Recognise the situation
A convincing voice, image or video may be fabricated to impersonate someone or pressure you.
Protect yourself now
Verify requests using a separate trusted channel, especially urgent payments. Do not redistribute harmful material or assume a recording proves identity.
What to preserve
Preserve the original message, link, sender and timestamps without editing the file. Describe suspected fabrication as unverified.
Reporting and next steps
For money lost, call 1930 promptly and contact your bank through its verified channel. Report cybercrime at cybercrime.gov.in and keep the acknowledgement. Chakshu on Sanchar Saathi is for suspected fraudulent communications; it does not replace reporting a crime or money lost. Contact local police for immediate threats; call 112 in immediate danger.
For your complaint, record what happened, when, the platform, amount and transaction references if any, and the evidence you have. Leave unknown facts blank. A draft is not a filed report. Human assistance can help organise complex facts, but cannot guarantee recovery.
