Recognise the situation
Someone may use your name, documents or profile to impersonate you or open accounts.
Protect yourself now
Notify the affected provider through official channels and secure your email and accounts. Use Sanchar Saathi to check mobile connections in your name.
What to preserve
Keep evidence of the impersonating profile or disputed account, dates and provider complaint references. Share identity documents only when necessary through trusted channels.
Reporting and next steps
For money lost, call 1930 promptly and contact your bank through its verified channel. Report cybercrime at cybercrime.gov.in and keep the acknowledgement. Chakshu on Sanchar Saathi is for suspected fraudulent communications; it does not replace reporting a crime or money lost. Contact local police for immediate threats; call 112 in immediate danger.
For your complaint, record what happened, when, the platform, amount and transaction references if any, and the evidence you have. Leave unknown facts blank. A draft is not a filed report. Human assistance can help organise complex facts, but cannot guarantee recovery.
