Recognise the situation
A caller may fake a bank, delivery company or official identity to create urgency.
Protect yourself now
End the call and contact the organisation using a number from its official website or app. Do not trust a number supplied by the caller.
What to preserve
Keep the caller number, call time, messages and any payment reference. Do not ring premium or unfamiliar callback numbers.
Reporting and next steps
For money lost, call 1930 promptly and contact your bank through its verified channel. Report cybercrime at cybercrime.gov.in and keep the acknowledgement. Chakshu on Sanchar Saathi is for suspected fraudulent communications; it does not replace reporting a crime or money lost. Contact local police for immediate threats; call 112 in immediate danger.
For your complaint, record what happened, when, the platform, amount and transaction references if any, and the evidence you have. Leave unknown facts blank. A draft is not a filed report. Human assistance can help organise complex facts, but cannot guarantee recovery.
