Recognise the situation
An online relationship may turn into urgent requests for medical, travel or customs payments.
Protect yourself now
Pause transfers and verify the person's identity independently. Do not send intimate material or accept instructions to move money for someone else.
What to preserve
Keep profile links, conversations, payment demands and transfer references. A trusted person can help review the requests without judging you.
Reporting and next steps
For money lost, call 1930 promptly and contact your bank through its verified channel. Report cybercrime at cybercrime.gov.in and keep the acknowledgement. Chakshu on Sanchar Saathi is for suspected fraudulent communications; it does not replace reporting a crime or money lost. Contact local police for immediate threats; call 112 in immediate danger.
For your complaint, record what happened, when, the platform, amount and transaction references if any, and the evidence you have. Leave unknown facts blank. A draft is not a filed report. Human assistance can help organise complex facts, but cannot guarantee recovery.
