Recognise the situation
Unexpected encryption, ransom notes or remote-control activity may indicate a compromised device.
Protect yourself now
Disconnect the affected device from networks if safe. Use another trusted device for banking or password changes. Do not pay or run unknown 'recovery' tools; get qualified technical help.
What to preserve
Keep the ransom note, filenames, event times and available logs. Avoid factory resets or deleting files before discussing evidence preservation.
Reporting and next steps
For money lost, call 1930 promptly and contact your bank through its verified channel. Report cybercrime at cybercrime.gov.in and keep the acknowledgement. Chakshu on Sanchar Saathi is for suspected fraudulent communications; it does not replace reporting a crime or money lost. Contact local police for immediate threats; call 112 in immediate danger.
For your complaint, record what happened, when, the platform, amount and transaction references if any, and the evidence you have. Leave unknown facts blank. A draft is not a filed report. Human assistance can help organise complex facts, but cannot guarantee recovery.
